Monday No School - Come to The Rink!

Louis Reil Day

Come to The RINK on Louis Riel Day and have some fun again playing hockey.  This day is a great time to take a step back from the everyday grind and really enjoy playing the game again.  We will have this type of attitude at the RINK with a combination of Skills, Drills and also 3 vs 3.

Sessions for this day will be split up by age and will only have 12 skaters and 2 goalies per group.

Each session will include:
  •  80 min of ice time with Skills (30 min) Drills (30 min) and 3 vs 3 (20 min)
  • 60 min of off ice workout

Our coaching staff will create a fun atmosphere where players can work on skills and be creative in trying to work on new things.  Also playing controlled 3 on 3 will be a great way to get players more involved in a fast paced scrimmage, with more touches of puck and learning to play in confined areas.

Saturday Power Skating

POWER SKATING CLINICS THIS SATURDAY!!

The RINK will be hosting a Power Skating Clinic, February 12thth. This will be the second session of 4 to allow players to work on gaining confidence in all areas of their skating.

The session will focus on Backward Skating and Mohawk Turns to allow players to work on both skating backwards and turning to forward when needed.

With Novice, Atom and Pee Wee sessions players will be taught the fundamentals of backward skating.  The stride will be broken down and players will receive detailed instruction for skating backwards in a straight line. These sessions will be age specific with younger players working more on fundamentals of backward skating and older players starting to get into the instruction for the mohawk turns. Players will also be put through a series of drills both on and off the ice to help improve body position and stride efficiency.

Session times:

Novice:

Classroom-4:00 Off-ice-4:30 On-ice 5:40-6:30
Atom:
Classroom-5:00 Off-ice 5:30 On-ice 6:40-7:30
Pee Wee:
Classroom 6:00  Off-ice 6:30 On-ice 7:40-8:30

Classroom session: Introduce the topics that will be taught in the clinic and begin to explain the mechanics behind backward skating and mohawk turns.

Off-ice session:This session will work on areas to help players learn how they can help to improve the backward stride off the ice.  Many of the topics we practice on the ice, players can also work off the ice for more repetition.  This will allow players to improve faster. We will work on drills players can do at home to help them gain strength in this area.

On Ice session:

50 minutes of players working on backward skating and mohawk turns.  Players will have the the stride broken down and will start with stationary work. They will then add in some movement before getting into game simulated drills.  Players will work on opening up with a mohawk turn and turning from backward to forward without missing a stride.

Cost:

$49 including 30 min classroom session/50 min off ice shooting drills/50 min on ice session.

Space for these sessions is limited, only 12 players per group.
